Meet David and Andrea; two creatives who have recently made the Sunshine Coast, Australia their home. With a heart for community plus skills in graphic design and illustration, these two have pulled their passions together to create a fresh clothing label: Kast Clothing.
“Kast Klothing intends to demonstrate full joy of the Lord and inclusiveness rather then rejection. We aim to uphold a level of transparency in what we’ve been through and are going through. To be vulnerable.”—David
David and Andrea locked eyes in 2017 while they were a part of Youth With A Mission (YWAM), an organisation that has a core of discipleship and outreach. They worked alongside each other during this time designing clothing to raise funds for outreach, so it’s no wonder they felt God directing them to kick off Kast clothing and build a hub to invite people into a community.
“The clothing company is just a front. We want to create a company that’s not just a clothing company but we are through and through representing Christ in everything we do… we are intentionally taking it a step further and creating pockets of community beyond the digital all around the world.”—David
They see a gap in fashion culture for authentic community and believe that Kast Clothing can be a presence in the industry to bring about real change. They want it to be a space for anyone to come. A place for people to share their lives—the highs, the lows and everything in between. A space for people to connect, be open and vulnerable all while enjoying some quality threads. That’s the foundation this community will be built upon.
Although still in its infancy, David and Andrea see Kast Clothing growing into an opportunity for many to find a community where they can get a taste of what Jesus is like in their everyday.
“Revival is the movement of things happening. God’s timing is not our timing, realistically it could be something that happens over 10 years but that’s a revival, it’s just you don’t necessarily always see it directly but it’s happening.”—Andrea
To start building community in your own life, ask God to show you where you can invite others in, be intentional about building relationships that foster openness and empathy. When you live out relationships in this way the community will follow.
